Whale Watching Club Mirissa is one of Sri Lanka’s most respected ethical whale watching operators, running daily tours from Mirissa Harbour along the Southern Coast. Known for spotting the world’s largest animal, the blue whale, in its natural deep-ocean habitat, the club takes small groups out at dawn aboard their large, comfortable catamaran into the warm Indian Ocean waters.
Tours depart at 6:30 AM and typically last 4–5 hours, giving passengers the best chance of encountering blue whales, sperm whales, dolphins, and other marine life. The crew are experienced naturalists who prioritise non-intrusive observation, keeping a respectful distance from the animals at all times.
Price includes onboard refreshments of tropical fruits and snacks, life jackets, and a knowledgeable English-speaking guide. The season runs November to April, when seas are calm and whale sightings are near-guaranteed.
