Yala National Park, on Sri Lanka’s south-eastern coast, encompasses dry zone habitat across five blocks, with Block 1 being the main safari area open to visitors. The park’s topography â rocky outcrops, scrub woodland, grassland, lagoons, and a coastal beach strip â creates ideal conditions for leopards and supports an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. Yala holds one of the highest densities of Sri Lankan leopards of any protected area in the world, and sightings are reported on the majority of morning safaris during peak season.
Dream Wild Safari provides licensed jeep excursions into Block 1, departing morning and afternoon. Beyond leopards, the park harbours herds of Asian elephants, mugger crocodiles basking on lagoon banks, and the rarely seen Sri Lankan sloth bear, which is more frequently observed in the early morning.
